What you put in your body is just as, if not more, important than the products you put on it. Serums, creams and procedures are trendy but Mother Nature knows best. Can we really create a supplement that matches its natural form? By feeding your body with nourishing food and self-love, you can improve your energy level and glow from the inside out.
All of these foods appear regulaly in my diet. How about you? How many hit your Top 10 list?
Cantaloupe, strawberries and mango – These fruits which are coming into season (translation: locally harvested and less expensive) contain vitamins A and C. Vitamin C protects against sun damage, can block and repair some of the damage resulting in lines and wrinkles and is essential for collagen production. Since your body is not able to make vitamin C on its own or store it, it is important to include vitamin C containing foods in your daily diet. Vitamin A also protects against damage and is important for the growth of new cells keeping skin looking young and healthy. Collagen is a protein that is important in giving skin its tight, youthful appearance as well as its elasticity. Make a fruit salad for a delicious, skin-benefiting treat!
Leafy green vegetables – Leafy greens like kale, spinach, Swiss chard, and collards are touted for their fiber, folate, iron, Vitamin A and calcium. But did you know the vitamin K they contain can reduce varicose veins? Varicose veins are caused by weakened valves which allow blood to collect and veins to weaken. Vitamin K is important for vascular health and normal blood clotting.
Nuts and Seeds – The vitamin E in nuts and seeds (like sunflower and sesame seeds) is a powerful antioxidant and like Vitamin A and C blocks free radicals from damaging cells in the body thereby keeping your skin looking young and radiant.
Seafood – Seafood benefits skin with its protein and healthy fats. However its high dose of zinc makes it especially unique. Seafood has more zinc than any other food. This mineral is necessary for hair follicle health, skin cell turnover, and healthy mucous membranes—providing protection to the mouth, nose, and eyelids among other things
Water – This important liquid is significant to glowing from the inside out. Health professionals often mention drinking water as an important habit for maintaining bright, radiant skin. Organs need water. Your skin happens to be your body’s largest organ so it too needs water to be as healthy as possible.
To your health!
